Francois-Xavier Souvay, founder and CEO of Lumenpulse (TSX: LMP), has been named the 2015 EY Entrepreneur of the Year™ Quebec. Nominated alongside 36 entrepreneurs across 10 different industries, Mr. Souvay took home the top prize at the Quebec gala on October 22nd, 2015.
"I'm very proud to have been named Entrepreneur of the Year for Quebec," Mr. Souvay said. "It's an unbelievable honour, which could not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the Lumenpulse team, and all our employees worldwide. This award truly belongs to all of us," he said.
Mr. Souvay founded Lumenpulse in 2006 with the goal of combining innovative LED technology with strong industrial design. Under his guidance, Lumenpulse has grown into a leading pure-play, specification-grade LED lighting solutions provider with 6 offices and 437 global employees. The company's award-winning products have been chosen for a wide variety of high-profile projects around the world, including: BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada; the General Motors Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan; and the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit in Cape Canaveral, Florida. In March 2015, Canadian Business named Lumenpulse one of the top 15 most innovative companies in Canada.
"With his relentless pursuit of innovation, François-Xavier is a shining example of a game-changing entrepreneur," says Daniel Baer, EY's Québec Entrepreneur of the Year program co-director. "Thanks to his leadership, Lumenpulse's research and development strategy has landed the company an impressive 59 patents for its innovative products and another 70 patents pending. With that kind of forward-thinking approach, Lumenpulse has become a luminary in the industry, light years ahead of its competition."
As the Quebec region's 2015 EY Entrepreneur of the Year, Mr. Souvay will compete with top entrepreneurs from the Prairies, Pacific, Atlantic, and Ontario regions for the national honour of Canada's 2015 EY Entrepreneur of the Year, to be presented at a gala celebration on 24 November 2015 in Toronto.
