Designboom highlights the Canadian Museum of Human Rights
Unique illuminated alabaster ramps featured by popular design website
Designboom recently featured the unique illuminated ramps at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Please click here to see the article.
Designed by lighting designers Mulvey & Banani Lighting, the lighting scheme uses a range of high-output Lumenfacade Interior in 3000K. The luminaires, which use narrow beams, are installed in continuous runs in the cavity along both sides of the ramp, creating a uniformly illuminated, and unique, light box application.
Paul Boken, vice-president of Mulvey & Banani Lighting, says that even though the luminaires were specified in 2010, the firm would choose them again for this application. "We specified it then and we would use it again today. Lumenpulse is at the leading edge with the Lumenfacade product. They were from day one and they still are."
"The ramps are the heart of the building and they're the most photographed element in the museum," Boken says.
